A friend of mine has recently put out a benefit EP to raise money for Sea Shepherd. Now, I’m no whale hugger, vegetarian, or vegan, but there’s something to be said for this EP.
I’m increasingly impressed with people who get off their arse’s and actually do something with their lives, and this record is a perfect example.
The EP has been put out as a result of a belief in the Sea Shepherd cause, I’m not going to go into the people at Sea Shepherd, what they do or what they believe, if you want to check it out then you can do so here.
So why make a big post about it if I don’t want to go into what Sea Shepherd do? Because for me this isn’t about Sea Shepherd, I’m posting this because I’m genuinely impressed by anybody who’s prepared to pull their finger out and do something they consider worthwhile, that goes for the record label (very small, and owner operated) and all the bands involved.
***disclaimer*** I am not now, nor have I ever been a music reviewer/journo. But I love pop punk, I love this EP, and it’s been on my jogging playlist since the first day it landed on my doorstep, 4 wicked, no nonsense, pop punk tunes from 4 wicked, no nonsense bands!
Please note that every 7″ comes with a unique download code, so even if you haven’t got access to a turntable, you canĀ rock the MP3′s and just stick it on your wall!
Enough from me, here is the blurb I received from the always friendly and succinct people at Happy days records:
Sea shepherd conservation society benefit 7 inch split ft/ this business is closed (norwich), leagues apart (manchester), sammy’s fatal mistake (peterborough) and rooftops (london)!!!
4 tracks, 100% recycled coffee paper inlay, download code
4 straight up punk tunes as a benefit for a very very needed cause which is running out of time, a vinyl of mates collectively trying to raise some funds for the organisation, nearly all money from this record will make it to the charity, strictly 100% non profit!!!! GET AMONGST IT!!!!!!
